The Bentonville Battleground
.
The Battle of Bentonville, March 19-21, 1865 was the largest Civil War land battle to take place on North Carolina soil. Walk the fields on which 80,000 Union and Confederate soldiers fought. And tour the nearby Harper House, where wounded from both sides were treated in an improvised hospital. The museum displays many artifacts from the 3-day battle. Then visit the Harper family cemetery, a Confederate grave for 360 soldiers, and the remaining Union earthworks. bentonville_battleground2.gif (12815 bytes)
